It's about exuberant joie de vivre, rousing rhythms, great emotions, passion, rapture, romance and drama. There is also hilarity, subtle humor and bizarre anecdotes. But silence and quiet moments also count.

"Uusikuu (New Moon) started out in 2006 with the ambitious aim of breathing new life into the traditional Finnish tango. The lively world music quintet has absolutely nothing to do with the typical melancholy tango mood (or the knitted hat). The small orchestra, which describes its style as "Vintage Sounds of Finland", bows admiringly to the traditional Finnish light music of the 1930s to 1960s on its albums. The five don't want to tread water, but even venture briefly into the famous 70s and 80s. And since Uusikuu are huge fans of the Eurovision Song Contest, references to the legendary music competition are a must.

Some of the songs in the program were written by "Uusikuu", the remaining songs entertain with a skilful mix of funny old humppas, soulful Finnish tangos and cult swing.

There is also a dose of Nordic Noir on this evening, for example their version of the classic "Summer Wine" by Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra, "Kotiviini". In Germany, the version by HIM frontman Ville Valo and Natalia Avelon is also well-known.

With their skillful mix of fiery tangos, dreamy waltzes, cheeky jenkkas, funny humppas and light-footed swing sounds, Uusikuu invite their audience to shake a leg.

"Uusikuu" that is:

Laura Ryhänen, vocals
Mikko Kuisma, violin and vocals
Norbert Bremes, accordion
James Geier, guitar

Admission is free! The festival of Klesmer and world music will once again take place free of charge and outdoors.
