Lots of sand, matching beach furniture, atmospheric decorations and rustic beach stalls manned by local restaurateurs will transform the square around the Klesmerbrunnen fountain into a large beach bar.
Entertainment will be provided by a variety of small and large events such as themed parties, live music and an outdoor cinema day. Another highlight will be a sports and activity area in front of the Sparkasse, where beach volleyball, beach soccer, Viking chess and cornhole can be played. All the necessary equipment and beach toys for children can be borrowed free of charge on site.
There will also be a sandcastle competition and a hobby horsing event (hobby horse tournament) for younger visitors. In addition, the Thermalsolbad with its fitness club and the two clubs MTV Salzgitter, SC Gitter and SV Union Salzgitter will offer the opportunity to get to know the extensive range of sports on offer at Salzgitter-Bad in the special beach atmosphere.
The wide range of cultural, sporting and leisure activities on offer are designed to appeal to as many people as possible from Salzgitter and the surrounding area. For this reason, several "quiet hours" are also planned during the event period. Admission is always free!
The city of Salzgitter and Wirtschafts- und Innovationsförderung Salzgitter GmbH (WIS) are making the StadtStrand possible through their participation in the "Zukunfstfähige Innenstädte und Zentren" funding program of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction. The costs of the 17-day event are covered 90 percent by the funding. The aim of the efforts of the funding body, the city and WIS is to revitalize the city centre, increase customer traffic and thus support retailers and restaurateurs.
