Salzgitter AG - Steel and Technology

The Salzgitter Group comprises well over 80 national and international subsidiaries and associated companies. It is one of Europe's leading steel groups with an annual crude steel capacity of around 9 million tons. With its 17,800 employees, the Group is among the top 5 in Europe in the sections and flat steel segments and holds a leading position worldwide in the tubes business.

Volkswagen AG

Volkswagen Salzgitter is the world's second largest engine plant. Around 8,000 petrol and diesel engines in 270 variants are produced every day. They are used in the various models and brands of the VW Group, such as the Golf, Polo, Lupo or New Beetle, in commercial vehicles and Seat. The engines for the top models Phaeton, Touareg, Audi A8 and the Bugatti Veyron with 1001 hp are also "Made in Salzgitter".

MAN Commercial Vehicles

In addition to the MAN TGS and TGX series, MAN Truck & Bus AG Salzgitter also manufactures assemblies and components in the production network. These are, for example, non-driven axles for buses and trucks or crankshafts for commercial vehicle engines. Bus chassis are assembled on a dedicated assembly line. The complete kits for the global Truck in the Box (TIB) assembly plants of the MAN brand are packed here and the global logistics chain is ensured. A logistics area for receiving, storing and shipping MAN original spare parts is available for this purpose.

Alstom/LHB

Another traditional company with roots in Silesia is ALSTOM LHB, a leading global provider of solutions for rail-bound transportation. The company develops and produces rail vehicles for the domestic and international markets. The product range includes the complete program for local, regional, long-distance and freight transport as well as service from maintenance to renovation and spare parts.

Robert Bosch Electronics GmbH

The fifth major employer is Robert Bosch Elektronik GmbH. Until the 1980s, the company mainly manufactured car radios (Blaupunkt) and televisions. In 1979, the company began producing electronic control units for combustion engines and now focuses exclusively on automotive technology. Engine control units are the most important product group and customers of global vehicle manufacturers.
