Participation

Here you will find further information on the topic of "Participation" in the Youth and Democracy Education team.

Participation of young people in Salzgitter

Youth participation is an important component of a functioning democracy. It is crucial that young people have the opportunity to contribute their opinions and ideas to political processes and thus play an active role in shaping their future. Participation enables them to act as experts in their living environment and contribute their perspectives.

Youth participation can take place at various levels, be it at school, in the city, in political committees or in society in general. Through these forms of participation, young people can learn how political decisions are made and at the same time represent their own concerns and interests.

It is crucial that young people have the opportunity to voice their concerns and be heard, as they bring with them experiences and perspectives that are important to them. However, it is also important to note that youth participation does not always run smoothly and obstacles can arise, such as a lack of support or resources. Nevertheless, it is of great importance that we as a society encourage and enable young people to actively participate in order to create a common and fair future for all.

With youth participation in Salzgitter, we want to ensure that young people can play an active role in city life. They should be given the opportunity to understand and help shape decision-making processes and develop skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving. It is particularly important to us to communicate with young people on an equal footing.

Ultimately, society as a whole benefits from the active participation of young people. Their perspectives and imaginative ideas can help to solve problems and drive positive change. Youth participation is therefore an important step on the way to a society in which everyone can have a say and participate.

We work with the following methods, among others

  • PlaceM (survey/participation app)
  • Actionbound (app for e.g. digital "scavenger hunt")
  • StadtspielerJUGEND (simulation game method, participation in city districts)
