In September 2016, the new project was launched by the city of Salzgitter, the Lower Saxony Consumer Advice Center, WEVG GmbH & Co. KG and the Regional Energy Agency e. V. Many citizens have so far taken advantage of the offer to obtain information or advice. Most of the questions were about heating systems, solar energy or house renovation. In addition, energy saving was a topic on which the citizens had many questions, which were answered by an employee of the Lower Saxony consumer advice center.

The City of Salzgitter's climate protection manager, Jan Holzenbecher, found in many conversations with citizens that homeowners first turn to companies that make different statements about renovations. It is therefore helpful to first seek out a neutral consultancy that provides independent advice and information on energy-efficient refurbishment measures or current funding programs. In this context, some homeowners are not aware that refurbishment is also associated with an increase in the value of the property, especially if repair work or component renewals are due.
