Salzgitter

Three railroad lines to be reactivated

According to the responsible Ministry of Economic Affairs, the state is reactivating three railroad lines in Lower Saxony. In addition to Salzgitter-Lebenstedt - Fredenberg, these are Einbeck - Salzderhelden and Neuenhaus - Bad Bentheim.

On Wednesday, March 11, Transport Minister Olaf Lies presented the results of the corresponding expert report. On the basis of the cost-benefit analysis now available at the Ministry, Lies will propose the three routes to a steering committee next week, for which the further process is to be continued immediately.

Associations such as BUND and Pro Bahn, the responsible authorities and all four state parliamentary groups are represented on the steering committee. From an original list of 74 rail routes, the steering committee unanimously agreed on a reduction to eight routes in two stages.

Further information can be found in the following press release from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs.
