The planned implementation is to take place in two construction phases: In the first construction phase (May 2016 to December 2017), the former REHA area, the entrance hall with the former restaurant and club room, the functional buildings in the outdoor pool area and the gymnastics hall will be demolished.
Following the demolition of the non-swimmers' area, the following major extensions are planned:
- Teaching pool (100 square meters) with lifting floor
- Attraction pool (328 square meters) 25 meters long with four swimming lanes and additional water areas with bubble loungers and massage jets
- Toddler area and bistro
- Entrance area
- Changing area and sanitary facilities
- Water technology
- Ventilation and heating technology
The second construction phase (January 2018 to December 2018) will see the demolition of the two swimming pool maintenance buildings. Extensive modernization of the indoor swimming pool and the functional rooms is then planned:
- Renovation of pool surrounds
- Renovation of the roof on the lake side
- Renovation of the sanitary facilities on the first floor
- Renovation of the changing rooms
- Renovation of social and club rooms
For the new building, an exterior façade was deliberately chosen that makes reference to the steel location of Salzgitter with its "metallic" surface. The façade is provided with a powder-coated surface that presents itself to the observer in special visual and color effects depending on the location.
