Salzgitter

Citizens' dialog on the traffic situation

A citizens' dialog on the traffic situation in Salder will take place on Wednesday, April 13, at 6 p.m. in the hall of the Gala Hof restaurant, Damm 38 in Salzgitter.

On this evening, there will be the opportunity for an open exchange between citizens and representatives of the political groups on the Salzgitter City Council, the city administration, the state road construction administration and the Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel.

At the end of 2015, citizens submitted a petition for a bypass in Salder to the council and the mayor of the city of Salzgitter. They want the recommendations contained in the draft mobility master plan for a bypass and a ban on trucks driving through the Salder district to be implemented.

In 2011, the city commissioned the Hanover-based firm Schubert to draw up a mobility master plan. This will be completed shortly and then submitted to the city council for approval.

This master plan will form the basis for further traffic planning throughout the city. The individual measures proposed in the plan must be approved by the city council before they are actually implemented.

Various responsibilities must be taken into account. For example, although the local authority is responsible for road construction in the area of state roads passing through the town, traffic regulation orders require the approval of the higher traffic authority, i.e. the Ministry of Economics and Transport.

The city of Salzgitter is therefore very pleased that a representative of the state road construction authority is taking part in the event.

The mobility master plan also examined the impact of a bypass between the L 472 and Peiner Straße. The extent to which the expected relief justifies the considerable impact of a Salder bypass and the high investment costs still needs to be examined in detail and critically evaluated.

The city of Salzgitter looks forward to your participation!
