Naturatlas shows city in the countryside

The Naturatlas presents the city of Salzgitter from its green side at twelve selected locations and introduces attractive destinations for excursions and nature experiences.

In the information sheets, young nature conservationists and recreationists can learn interesting facts about special habitats in the 224 square kilometer city area.

They are available at the Citizens' Centers, at the tourist information office in Salzgitter-Bad and from the Salzgitter district group of NABU. They can also be downloaded from the Internet at www.salzgitter.de.

A comprehensive leaflet also provides information on the entire project and an overview of all the stations in the city. The project is funded by the Lower Saxony Bingo Environmental Foundation.

The Naturatlas stations at a glance: Innerste, Warne - Neuer Teich, Speckenberg, Fuchsberg - Beinumer Wald, Zwischen Bismarckturm und Reihersee, Reihersee, Tagebau Haverlahwiese, Heerter See, Burgberg Lichtenberg, Fuhse oberhalb Salder, Flotheniederung.

Another stop is the Salzgittersee recreation area. The lake is located on the western edge of Salzgitter-Lebenstedt, where the Fuhse and Flothe rivers meet. It was created between 1960 and 1975 by gravel extraction.
