This year's patron was Ulrike Tilk, Head of the Braunschweig-Wolfsburg Regional Directorate of the Lower Saxony State Office for Geoinformation and Surveying (LGLN). At around 3:30 p.m., she sent the 114 relay teams onto the course, which this year, due to the flood situation, did not run around the Ölpersee but past it.
The teams started the race with seven runners each. Each person had to cover around 6,300 meters. A total of five relay teams from the city of Salzgitter also took part in the competition, competing as follows:
- "Care before speed" (03:59:51): Annette Grabowski, Bernd Oloff, Siegfried Paukner, René Marienfeldt, Dietmar Halmich, Alexander Kaczmarczyk, Kevin Anton
- "(Measuring) and (c)(l)oning" (04:02:02): Jörg Müller, Gina Wolf, Maik Weber, Andreas Schaller, Ralf Stobinski, Matthias Kellner, Bjoern Lewandowsky
- "Laufkultur" (04:05:45): Guido von Einem, Jens Bogdan, Anika Wenzek, Harald Baumgartner, Nelly Gabel, Silvia Fiedler, Cornelia Gabel
- "Salzkartoffeln" (04:10:33): Carsten Bauerochse, Carsten Klotz, Nicole Lüdicke, Carola Ueberhorst, Holger Posselt, Dennis Lendeckel, Jens Bogdan
- "7 out of 66" (04:14:46): Carsten Schenke, Frank Strübe, Gesa Ahrens, Anke Karmann, Waldemar Bender, Thomas Hempel, Karsten Bornmann
The winner of the race was the "Die Überflieger I" relay team from the Federal Aviation Office in 2:58:21 hours, followed by the "Bank Run" relay team from the Institute of Finance at the TU Braunschweig in 3:00:37 hours and the "Brunswiek Cops" relay team from the Braunschweig police station in 3:03:56 hours.
