85 members of the volunteer fire department set out at 6.20 a.m. on Friday morning to help out in the neighboring town. The Salzgitter forces were coordinated from behind by the city's professional fire department.
The district of Wolfenbüttel issued a disaster alert at 9.20 p.m. on Thursday and formed a crisis team, primarily for the affected district town in the neighboring municipality.
The volunteer firefighters who had helped the relief workers in Goslar on Thursday with the evacuation work following the flooding in the district ended their deployment on Thursday evening. As after the operation in Hildesheim, some of the personnel who had been deployed in Goslar volunteered again for the new operation in Wolfenbüttel.
Operation in the district of Goslar and support in Hildesheim
On Thursday, 107 members of the Salzgitter volunteer fire department were deployed to a relief operation in the district of Goslar. Many of those who had been involved in the relief operation to combat the flooding in Hildesheim had volunteered for the new operation. The professional fire department also supported the crisis team of the city of Hildesheim with personnel.

Many rescue workers were already deployed in Goslar on Wednesday to evacuate a retirement home.
Operation in Hildesheim
Earlier on Tuesday evening, 126 emergency personnel from the Salzgitter volunteer fire department's city fire department had been deployed with 20 vehicles to help fill sandbags in Hildesheim and install them in the city center as flood protection along the Innersten. The units were relieved at 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning. However, the Salzgitter emergency services were already able to finish their deployment there on Wednesday afternoon.
