Prior to this, landscape architect Johanna Sievers presented the results of the previous participation campaigns at Steterburg elementary school and both Steterburg daycare centers: The children want lots of opportunities for exercise; there should be play equipment for the younger children as well as for the older ones. A seesaw, a swing, but also a dune for digging were some of the children's ideas. The aspects of water, vacation, airplane and beach should be represented in order to create a reference to the city of Gdansk, which is located by the sea.
The playground is to be designed for toddlers and children up to the age of 12. For older children, the planned football pitch on Brotweg will provide a new place to play.
Those present would like the playground on Danziger Strasse to be used by parents with their children. For this reason, the playground will also be laid out like a park and will have plenty of seating. The playground will have a main path, but will still be accessible and visible from several sides. It was important to those present that dogs are not allowed. Nevertheless, dog waste bag stations should be considered, as well as signs with rules of conduct, which the children could help to develop and paint.
But first, the landscape architect will record all suggestions and wishes and create a concept that will be presented on Thursday, March 15, at 6:15 p.m. in the auditorium of the Thiede secondary school (Panscheberg 56) for all interested parties to discuss.
It is hoped that the political committees will decide on the redesign by early summer so that work can begin in the fall following the tendering process in the summer.
