Salzgitter

Council decides in October

The Greater Braunschweig Regional Association and the cities of Salzgitter, Braunschweig and Wolfenbüttel are currently in talks to draw up a draft planning agreement for a high-speed cycle path from Braunschweig to Thiede and Wolfenbüttel.

In Salzgitter, the city administration has prepared a corresponding draft resolution (2971/17, download at the bottom of this page), which will be presented to the various specialist committees in September and to the local council of the district of Nord on Thursday, September 19. On Wednesday, October 2, the Salzgitter City Council will then decide at its meeting whether there will be an agreement between the project partners. At the same time, the other participating cities of Braunschweig and Wolfenbüttel will also submit corresponding draft resolutions to their councils. Here, too, the city councils will have to decide on the agreement.

The agreement regulates the responsibilities and obligations of the individual contracting parties with the aim of planning the "Braunschweig - Wolfenbüttel/Salzgitter" high-speed cycle link so that it is ready for approval and can be built once the planning approval procedures have been completed, provided that the financial basis for this is available. The costs for the city of Salzgitter are estimated at 25,000 euros.

As soon as the committees of all project partners have given their approval, the regional association will invite tenders for the planning services in the near future.
