The partial inauguration of the playground took place in July: Since then, the children have been able to board the large play ship and use the other play equipment. Many landlubbers are delighted with the new play facilities and enjoy using them.
As the grass in the play meadow and hilly landscape areas still had to develop, construction fences used to separate these areas. Due to the weather, a firm turf has formed in recent months and the construction fences could be removed.
The children can now spread out over the 4,000 square meter site. Of course, the little ones are hoping that the weather will remain sunny and mild so that they can play and socialize on "their" new playground until winter.
Next year, when the temperatures rise again, the children will also be able to use the "green classroom" embedded in the hilly landscape. Pupils will be able to learn outdoors in the form of semi-circular seating steps. The Steterburg primary school pupils wanted the "green classroom". The city of Salzgitter was happy to fulfill this wish.
In continuation and in connection with the hilly landscape, the north-eastern playground area is still available as a play area.
In addition, there are various seating and rest areas to make the playground attractive for people of all generations. There are benches and bench-table combinations that can also be used by people with disabilities near the play equipment as well as in more remote, quieter areas. One special element is a round bench placed around a newly planted tree in a central location.

The redesign of the Landratten playground is the first major public construction project within the "Soziale Stadt Steterburg" redevelopment area. The access situation on the 4,000 square meter site has been significantly improved, particularly with regard to accessibility. A new central path axis has now been created between the entrances from Breslauer Straße and Schäfersteig.
This redesign measure is derived from the integrated action plan for the "Socially Integrative City of Steterburg".
