Expansion of Danziger Strasse completed

After a construction period of almost 13 months, the expansion of Danziger Strasse in Thiede was completed in mid-May.

It was carried out in five construction phases. During the construction phase, national and truck traffic was diverted via the B248, Hoheweg and Eisenhüttenstraße.

In several construction phases, a high-pressure natural gas pipeline belonging to an energy company was uncovered, which then had to be replaced as part of the construction work. This unplanned work led to an extension of the construction period. Thanks to the mild winter, the construction work was completed faster than expected in May.

Until fall 2020, trees will be planted in the section between the junctions of Schulring and Brotweg. The construction work will then be fully completed.

The drivable connection from the "Sierscher Weg" development area to the AWO retirement and nursing home will remain in place for the time being, as the final expansion of the roadway and ancillary facilities is planned for Sierscher Weg this year.

Thanks to the residents

For many residents, the construction phase meant special arrangements in order to be able to carry out their daily work and supply journeys. The city administration would like to thank everyone involved for their understanding in this regard.
