The association's wish: eight planter boxes were to be set up on the gallery on the market square, Lange Hecke 2 to 8, which were to be planted with various colorful plants with the joint participation of the residents of the gallery. The redevelopment advisory board unanimously approved the request.
The market square on Lange Hecke is the central hub of Steterburg. The association members and their fellow campaigners hoped that the planter boxes and colorful planting would beautify the square so that people would enjoy spending time here for a chat or just to relax.
After the planter boxes were ordered and delivered at the end of the summer, the members of the citizens' association bought 600 liters of soil to fill the boxes and selected attractive plants. The joint planting campaign then took place on a beautiful, sunny fall day. The response from the people of Steterburg has been positive: many are delighted with the colorful autumn planting.
Various people took part in setting up the plant boxes, putting in the soil and planting the boxes. All those involved hope that this joint action will strengthen the neighborhood and encourage other citizens to follow suit. The plant boxes are maintained by the participants themselves.
And there are also sponsors for the plant boxes: members of the citizens' association, residents of the houses, the neighborhood management and participants in the psychiatric day care center of the parities.
