Flyer "Steterburg becomes colorful" invites you to take an (artistic) walk

The Day of Urban Development takes place nationwide on Saturday, May 8, with various campaigns and projects. In Steterburg, the focus is on the first major community project in a special way: with the flyer "Steterburg becomes colorful", people can embark on an artistic search for traces.

Unusual times call for creative measures on Urban Development Day. That is why the Department for Socially Integrative City and Urban Redevelopment and the Steterburg Neighborhood Management are inviting people to take an artistic walk through the neighborhood.

Around 2,000 "Steterburg becomes colorful" flyers will be distributed to Steterburg residents in the first week of May. The flyer lists all 22 electricity distribution boxes that were created last year thanks to the initiative of Nicole Brito de la Cruz. The artist proposed this art project with and for the people in the neighborhood to the redevelopment advisory board, which was unanimously approved. 60 young and old artists wanted to take part and painted under the guidance of the volunteer artist.

The results are impressive: Comic figures, knights, animals, children and much more now shine in various locations throughout the district. Beautiful eye-catchers that bring joy and are so inspiring that the project is also to be implemented in other parts of the city.

"The response to the first project with citizen participation, which was financed by the disposition fund, was very positive. It shows how connected the people of Steterburg are to their neighborhood," says Michael Tacke, City Councillor for Building, Urban Planning, Urban Development and the Environment. Further projects in the neighborhood can be applied for via the disposition fund. "Everyone is invited to propose projects for the people in the neighborhood," says the city councillor.

In addition to civic engagement, the urban development funding program has created many positive things in and for Steterburg, such as the Landratten playground, the tree planting in Danziger Straße and the demolition on Brotweg for a new daycare centre.

Anyone with questions about the projects is welcome to contact the district managers Diana Graf and Sabine Naats (05341/ 8879201).
