Salzgitter

Council meeting on April 27

The City Council of Salzgitter adopted the 1st supplementary budget bylaws for 2022 at its meeting on April 27.

This had become necessary due to the costs for the new northern elementary school. The more extensive 2nd addendum will then be decided at the May meeting of the committee.

Also on the agenda was the ordinance on transport charges and conditions for occasional cab services. The cab fares applicable to the city of Salzgitter have been binding since 01.01.2021. In addition to the operating and transportation obligation, there is a statutory tariff obligation in the cab industry.

Cab companies are not permitted to exceed or fall short of the transportation fees set by ordinance. However, according to the Gesamtverband Verkehrsgewerbe Niedersachsen (GVN) e.V., the cab industry in Salzgitter can no longer cover its costs with the current cab fares. The city parliament has approved an increase in charges of up to three percent per journey.

The meeting ended with motions and questions from the parliamentary groups. The current and detailed agenda can be viewed in the citizen information system at salzgitter.de.
