As part of the immediate action program "Perspektive Innenstadt!", which was launched as part of the European Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the quality of life in Salzgitter's inner-city centers is to be improved and a contribution made to climate protection. Mayor Frank Klingebiel commented: "The construction of the small climate-friendly forums will significantly enhance our city centers in Lebenstedt and Salzgitter-Bad. It's great that, according to current plans, they will be completed next summer and will invite people to linger."
Salzgitter-Lebenstedt
Restrictions will be imposed in the Monumentplatz area from the end of January. The area around the groups of trees and seating will initially be cordoned off. The existing seating areas will be removed and the trees that are old and cannot withstand the climatic conditions will be felled.
The ground and the site for planting the trees will then be prepared by March. This will be followed by work to install fogging technology, a drinking fountain and perennial planting around the groups of trees.
Salzgitter-Bad
From the end of January, comparable work will start in the area of the traffic circle at Schützenplatz and adjacent to it in Vorsalzer Straße. There will also be restrictions here during the work.
Schedule
The work is expected to be completed at both locations in June 2023.
The city of Salzgitter asks for your understanding for the restrictions associated with the work.
