The facility is an open steel structure with a green roof that offers space for around 70 bicycles. The costs for the bicycle parking facility amount to approx. 230,000 €.

A comparable municipal facility does not yet exist. The parking facilities in Salzgitter-Ringelheim and at Salzgitter-Lebenstedt station are designed differently. The facility is only intended as a parking facility for bicycles. Mopeds and other means of transport can still be parked in the parking lot in front of the town hall.

City planning officer Michael Tacke explains the parking facility:

"On the basis of the city of Salzgitter's climate protection concept, local mobility, i.e. walking and cycling, is to be promoted. Modern bicycle parking facilities with roofing are one element in promoting the use of bicycles. The facility in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt is deliberately located close to the city center between the town hall and the municipal library to make the use of bicycles more attractive for visits to the city center or the town hall."
