Campaign 1,000 trees for Salzgitter

To improve climate protection and biodiversity in the city, the Salzgitter City Council has decided to launch the "1,000 trees for Salzgitter" campaign.

Last year, the Sauingen shooting club took part in the 1,000 trees for Salzgitter campaign and planted ten high-stemmed fruit trees (apple, pear, plum, mirabelle and cherry) on its grounds, as well as species such as lime, maple, ash and willow (which are somewhat smaller when delivered).

As in the past two years, interested citizens will be provided with trees for planting on their properties in the area of the city of Salzgitter upon application. As part of this campaign, they can receive young trees (selected native species and high-stemmed fruit trees) free of charge from the city for the planting season in winter 2024/2025, which they can plant and subsequently care for themselves.

It should be noted that the trees may only be used for voluntary planting in order to actually achieve added value for the natural environment. Use for planting as part of building permits or other projects requiring approval is therefore excluded. Furthermore, the requirements under private law for the planned planting on the respective property must be fulfilled.

This year, orders can be placed until June 15, 2024. Otherwise, the trees cannot be ordered by the City of Salzgitter until next fall.

Further information is available from the Environment Department of the City of Salzgitter; by emailjanina.paulstadt.salzgitterde or by telephone (05341/839-3206 or -3992, Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10.00 and 12.00).
