77 participants will compete in ten categories on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10, presenting visitors to Salzgittersee with first-class wakeboarding at world-class level.
Things get underway on Friday afternoon. After the official training session from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., during which there will be plenty of action on the eleven hooks on the course, the under-14s will open the preliminary rounds on Friday. The over-30s and over-40s will then compete until after 8pm.
The action continues early on Saturday: the final preliminary rounds for the U11 and U18 categories and the open class start at 9 am. If you want to be there early, you can start the day relaxed with a delicious breakfast buffet on the sun deck of the water ski facility. Reservations for breakfast must be made via the Wasserski Salzgitter online store. From 11 a.m., the facility opens for three hours for anyone who wants to do a few laps on a wakeboard or water skis. Tickets for this can also be purchased in the online store.
Things will get really exciting again from 2 p.m. when the country's best wakeboarders put their skills to the test in the final rounds. With reigning European and world champions among the participants, a spectacular and technically demanding event can definitely be expected on Saturday afternoon.
In addition to the "show" on the water that will be offered to visitors to Salzgittersee this weekend, the water ski facility has also put together a colorful program for the whole family. Various stalls with bratwurst, chips, fresh waffles, ice cream and drinks will be set up on the sunbathing lawn in front of the water ski facility. Visitors can make themselves comfortable on deckchairs, which can be hired here. If you want to get active yourself in the afternoon, you can hire a stand-up paddle board and make the Salzgittersee unsafe. Together with "Wir helfen Kindern e.V.", the youngest visitors can sweeten their weekend with a bouncy castle, face painting and a balloon flying competition.
So there will be plenty going on at Salzgittersee until well into the evening. The final rounds of the various classes will run until after 7 pm, before the national champions are crowned at the award ceremony at around 7:45 pm. Afterwards, the participants and spectators of the championship can round off the evening with cool drinks and music in the sunset.
From Sunday, the Salzgittersee will be open to the public again. Water skiing and wakeboarding will be available throughout the day together with the championship participants. So if you fancy having fun on the water with the pros, you are very welcome on this Sunday. Anyone who is inspired by the performance of the pros and would like to try out the sport for the first time can take part in the beginners' course on Sunday morning. Places are limited, so please reserve in advance via the online store of the water ski facility.
Admission to Salzgittersee and the beach is of course free of charge as usual, as is parking in one of the numerous parking lots around the lake.
