Open Mill Day at the Salder Museum: 40 years of the Osterlinder windmill

It was exactly 40 years ago on Sunday, September 22, that the grand opening of the Osterlinder Bockwindmühle took place at the Salder Castle Municipal Museum in Salzgitter-Salder.

The technical monument, which had been decommissioned in 1972, had been rebuilt there shortly before. The colossus weighs a full 50 tons - and yet it first travelled to the industrial trade fair in Hanover before finding its final home in Salder. Over four decades, the old mill has now demonstrated the knowledge and skills of bygone times to countless visitors young and old.

For this reason, the Schoss Salder Municipal Museum is offering an open day at the Osterlinder Bockwindmühle on Sunday, September 22, during the museum's opening hours - from 11 am to 5 pm.

Weather permitting, the mill will be open for regular guided tours from 12 noon to 4 pm. The Mücke bakery will be serving coffee and cake in the mill garden - weather permitting.

Admission is free, the museum and the Eiszeitgarten are also open.
