Salzgitter

Celebrated with a large painting course: 10 years of Kunst- und Kreativschule

At the end of October, the anniversary event for the 10th anniversary of the Kunst- und Kreativschule (KuK) of the city of Salzgitter took place in the hall of the Alte Feuerwache in Lebenstedt.

Regina Smuda showed the children how to create a landscape with fine brushstrokes on the canvas

Almost a dozen enthusiastic children aged between eight and 14 were able to paint together in a large group in the festively decorated hall and experience creative discoveries.

The two course leaders - mother and daughter duo Regina and Eva Smuda - immediately captivated the children. The aim of the course was to create their own poppy field in the style of the famous painter Claude Monet, but first there was a brief introduction to the artist's life and work. Afterwards, the children picked up the paint themselves and swung their brushes over the canvases. Step by step, framed by many small explanations and assistance, individual works of art were created whose artistic background could not be denied. In the end, the participants and the course instructors were very satisfied with all the results and were able to return home extremely happy.

But this painting event was not the only thing KuK did to celebrate its anniversary. Much more significant is the recently successfully launched KuK online store. Bookings for the courses can now be made conveniently and immediately. It can be accessed at https://www.unser-ferienprogramm.de/kuk-salzgitter. It's well worth a visit, as there are still a few last places available on individual courses.

The model of the famous painting was always in front of the artists as a visual object while they created their own very personal works.

How it all began 10 years ago

At its meeting on 16.07.2014, the Salzgitter City Council approved the fee regulations for attending the Kunst- und Kreativschule Salzgitter. This was the official starting signal and an initial program was planned. A two-day painting course in December 2014 in the training workshop of the Salder Castle Municipal Museum was the first course actually held. As the two current classrooms in the Alte Feuerwache in Lebenstedt were only moved into years later, the KuK was still a guest at various locations in the city, such as the Städtisches Museum or the Medienzentrum. The first successful KuK course was followed by many more different creative courses over the next few years. In order to have the greatest possible flexibility, the extensive range of courses is now developed in quarterly sections.
