The focus of the event is the almost 450-year-old "Osterlinder" windmill in the mill garden on the grounds of the Salder Castle Municipal Museum. The Mücke bakery from Lebenstedt invites you to linger over coffee and cake in the mill garden.

The Fissenberg Trio will be providing the background music for German Mill Day from 2.00 to 4.30 p.m., inviting you to sway, clap and dance.
The mill can also be visited and short guided tours for young and old through the technical monument are offered every hour between 12 noon and 4 pm. The museum is also open.

For centuries, windmills have shaped the image of today's Salzgitter - there was a mill in almost every community, just outside the town. In the middle of the 20th century, however, more and more millers ceased operations. The Bock windmill in the mill garden of the Salder Castle Municipal Museum is one of the last mills in the city that is still a reminder of this tradition. It originally comes from the Burgdorf area and was operated by the company "Blume & Oppermann" near Osterlinde until 1972. After its decommissioning, the mill, which weighed almost 50 tons, was on display at the industrial trade fair in Hanover in 1984.
