The Citizens' Services, Foreigners' Affairs and Elections Department of the City of Salzgitter would like to point out that driving licenses of citizens issued in the years 1999 to 2001 inclusive must be exchanged by the deadline of 19.01.2026.

For those in possession of an EU driving license issued from 2002 onwards, the deadlines will end in stages over the coming years. The decisive factor is the date of issue of the EU driving license. Citizens can find an overview on the website of the city of Salzgitter.

Citizens born before 1953 who still have a paper driver's license have until 19.01.2033 to exchange it.

People who were still in possession of a paper driver's license and were born later had to exchange it by 19.01.2025 at the latest, depending on their year of birth. However, if you missed this deadline, you can still apply for a driving license exchange at the driving license authority.
