From September 13 to 21, the Kniestedter Kirche in Salzgitter-Bad will be the venue for encounters with authors and their latest books, with literary "classics" in a new guise, with musicians, actors, people from the public literary scene and, last but not least, with other reading enthusiasts.

Unfortunately already sold out! Denis Scheck and Dietmar Bär: "The Golden Age of Crime"
Unfortunately, this reading is already sold out:

The British crime classics collected under this title charmingly lead to the solution of the greatest mysteries in detective history! Literary critic Denis Scheck will lead through the evening with a unique insight into the finest selection of Klett-Cotta crime classics. Actor and Cologne Tatort detective Dietmar Bär will lend his incomparable voice to the texts.
Tickets are still available for these events (as of 04.09.2025)
Arno Frank reads from "Ginsterburg"
On Friday, September 19, at 7.30 pm, author Arno Frank will read from his latest novel "Ginsterburg".
His book is about how a new everyday life returns to "Ginsterburg" after Hitler's seizure of power. Some inhabitants of the small town suffer, others benefit - and most try to come to terms with the new order. Gradually, however, the abyss opens up beneath everyday life. A sensitive and atmospheric novel about love, family, friendship - and personal entanglements in the years 1935 to 1945.
Arno Frank, born in 1971, is a publicist and works as a freelance journalist, primarily for SPIEGEL, taz and Deutschlandfunk. He lives in Wiesbaden. His most recent novels are "So, und jetzt kommst du" (2017) and "Seemann vom Siebener" (2023).
Daniela Dröscher reads from "Young woman with cat"
Author Daniela Dröscher brings a completely different facet to the literature festival with her reading on Saturday, September 20, at 7 pm. On this evening, she will be presenting her recently published novel "Junge Frau mit Katze".
The plot: Throughout her life, the main character Ela was literally overshadowed by her mother. Her father is convinced that her mother's fat body was responsible for the misfortune of the entire family. Now her own sick body is causing Ela to despair. While she unconsciously wrestles with the question of whether she really deserves her place in the academic world, her body rebels: her neck, her heart, her skin - Ela is on fire and panics more and more.
A masterfully constructed autofictional self-empowerment - psychologically stirring and ravishingly funny.
Daniela Dröscher, born in 1977, lives in Berlin. She holds a doctorate in media studies from the University of Potsdam, a diploma in scenic writing from the University of Graz, has been awarded the Anna Seghers Prize, the German Literature Fund working grant and the Robert Gernhardt Prize (2017) and was shortlisted for the German Book Prize with her novel "Lügen über meine Mutter" (2022), which will soon be shown in cinemas.
Unfortunately sold out! Live radio play "Frankenstein"
Unfortunately, the live radio play "Frankenstein" is already sold out!
It is already a much-loved tradition of the literature festival. On Sunday, September 21, at 6 pm, the Münster-based ensemble "Theater ex libris" will once again take to the stage of the Kniestedt church with a new live radio play: this time the classic "Frankenstein". Theater ex libris turns Mary Shelley's story into a gripping radio play that still retains the character of an epistolary novel.
The plot: The Arctic Ocean, August 1798: the ship of explorer Robert Walton is frozen near the North Pole. The crew is forced to hold out until the ice melts. In this hostile wasteland, of all places, the crew spot a man on a dog sled who joins them on board shortly afterwards. But that is not the most unusual thing: the man tells them that he has traveled to the North Pole because he wanted to hunt down a demon. Then the stranger reveals his story: the story of Victor Frankenstein.
Five actors ensure that the audience listens intently to the story until the very last moment. This is supported by effects such as live music and image projection. The radio play is aimed at audiences aged 16 and over.
