Braunschweig - Salzgitter-Thiede - Wolfenbüttel high-speed cycle link

Where should the high-speed cycle link between the cities of Braunschweig and Salzgitter / Wolfenbüttel run? Interested parties can now get actively involved in clarifying this question.

The Greater Braunschweig Regional Association and the cities of Braunschweig, Salzgitter and Wolfenbüttel are launching the public participation process for the planning of the Braunschweig-Salzgitter/Wolfenbüttel high-speed cycle link. The joint kick-off event will take place on Friday, January 24, 6 p.m., in the Volkswagen-Halle Braunschweig, Europaplatz.

Braunschweig's Lord Mayor Dr. Thorsten Kornblum, Wolfenbüttel's Mayor Ivica Lukanic, Salzgitter's City Councillor Michael Tacke and Association Director Ralf Sygusch will present the plans and framework conditions to date as well as the timetable for public participation.

Workshops in the municipalities will follow from February. This is where suggestions, ideas and comments from citizens on the project will be taken on board.

The first workshop for the Salzgitter-Thiede area will take place on Wednesday, February 19, at the Realschule Salzgitter-Thiede (Panscheberg 56). Admission from 5.30 pm, start at 6 pm.

The citizens' workshops will be continued in several consecutive sessions. The aim is to work with citizens to develop a preferred option for the high-speed cycle link. This will then be presented to the relevant political bodies of the cities of Braunschweig, Salzgitter and Wolfenbüttel for consultation and approval.

Background information:

The regional association and the cities of Braunschweig, Salzgitter and Wolfenbüttel are planning a high-speed cycle link between the municipalities involved. Cycle high-speed connections are a contribution to the traffic turnaround and climate protection. They reduce travel times by bike or pedelec to less than or equal to those by car. To this end, the high-speed cycle connections are built in such a way that time lost by stopping at traffic junctions, slow journeys due to insufficient road widths, poor road surfaces and gradients are avoided.
