Salzgitter

Council meeting on May 27

On Tuesday, May 27, the public meeting of the Salzgitter City Council took place in the council chamber of the town hall in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt.

One of the items on the agenda was an amendment to the retail development concept. This concept recommends the establishment of a larger furniture store for Salzgitter, as there is a clear supply gap in this area and therefore an urgent need for action.

A prospective retail development focus west of Eisenhüttenstraße in Salzgitter-Thiede was planned for the establishment of an XXXLutz furniture store and a Mömax furniture take-away store. In the meantime, however, the general conditions have changed so that the original planned location is no longer available.

In consultation with the Greater Braunschweig Regional Association and the investor, an area south of Kanalstrasse and west of the A 39 highway in the Salzgitter-Salder district was found as a suitable alternative location for the planned settlement. This proposal was approved by a majority.

Other items on the agenda included

  • Hazard prevention ordinance: passed unanimously,
  • Lower Saxony regional planning program: unanimously approved,
  • Submission: Second educational path at the Volkshochschule
  • Submission: Interim report on office work

At the end of the meeting, the motions and questions from the political groups followed. These and other meeting agendas can be viewed in the Council information system.
