Dream or nightmare:

November 2, 2025, 1 pm

A choreographic production by and with Antonia Latz (artist), which moves between contemporary dance technique and everyday gestures. Experience the narrative performance live.

Dialogic guided tour:

Tell me your view, September 21, 11:15 a.m.: Participants stroll through the exhibition with art educator Lena Hammer and view selected works with an open mind. The participants bring in their own perspective - in an exchange, the participants discover differences and similarities and let personal stories emerge around the works of art.

Lectures:

Im Blickwinkel, October 12, 11:15 a.m.: From Hieronymus Bosch to Pablo Picasso - How pictures tell stories. Michael Stoeber takes guests on an inspiring visual journey. The art critic presents famous paintings from the history of art and makes it clear how magnificently the artists condense storylines in them.

Brand fairy tales - stories of advertising, October 26, 11.15 a.m.: Plato is said to have said: "Those who tell the stories rule society." More than 2,000 years later, brands have rediscovered storytelling for themselves. How and why is storytelling used in marketing? And what is the power of a good story? Mareike Riemann (Communication Designer M.A.) talks about this.

The empty universe, November 2, 11:15 a.m.: Space is not only infinitely vast: the infinite expanse also reveals a yawning emptiness. The lecture by Dr. Stefan Linke (Head of Exploration and Propulsion, Department of Astronautics, TU Berlin) deals with this emptiness in and around us.

Matinee:

Georg Lichter, October 19, 11.15 am with Heinrich Römisch (music), Bernd Schulz (artist) and Tilman Thiemig (texts) read by Andreas Döring: the story of Georg Lichter is described via image projections, texts and music. Our hero Georg Lichter is a narrator who is able to see the world differently, possibly "really". "Yes, I saw the world (...). Rarely gray, mostly colorful, in a play of colors at the turn of the year. I only preferred to dream in black and white." (Tilman Thiemig)

The variety can be discovered in the "Salon Salder" until November 2.

Workshops:

Hatschi-Püh!, September 28, 11 am to 4 pm, for children aged 4 to 6: Elisabeth Kilala Stumpf (artist and art educator) reads her book "The story of Hatschi-Püh, the little dragon" and explains how a picture book is created from a story. The children then get creative themselves. Parents are very welcome.

Stories in a box, October 12, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., for children aged 6 and up: After exploring the exhibition with Lena Hammer (art educator) and being inspired by it, the children/young people want to make - tell - design a small scene in a shoebox using everyday materials in this creative workshop. Please bring shoe boxes, figures, fabric remnants and/or natural materials.

Information:

With the annual exhibition "Salon Salder - New Art from Lower Saxony", the Municipal Art Collections present the juxtaposition and coexistence of established, avant-garde and innovative art from Lower Saxony. The Salon Salder has long been an established format that distinguishes contemporary art, questions conventions and opens up space for new ideas.

This year's guests are: Dagmar Brand; Lars Eckert; FRANEK; Michaela Hanemann; Lino Heissenberg; Alexander Janz; Jan Köchermann; Patricia Lambertus; Antonia Latz; Katrin Ribbe; Christian Riebe; Joanna Schulte; Bernd Schulz and Miriam Zadil.

The works can be viewed at the Städtische Kunstsammlungen (Museumstraße 34) during opening hours until November 2.

With an extensive accompanying program of guided tours, workshops, concerts, readings and artist talks, the gallery of the Städtische Kunstsammlungen Salzgitter is a place for the discourse of artistic positions that reflect social life and raise questions about relevance, identity, values and one's own point of view.

"There is more to the term storytelling than just "telling stories". It is the art of bringing together information and knowledge on an emotional level in a story," says Stephanie Borrmann, Head of the Municipal Art Collections.

Art can create moods, provide contexts and tell stories - without a single word.
without a single word. Perspective, image composition and coloring as well as lighting play decisive roles.

Storytelling can be just as subjective as our perception. However, the art lies in the fact that the same story is nevertheless recalled in the viewer's memory.

The 14 artists have done this in their own individual ways: pictures, installations, graphics, performances and much more invite you to tell special (artistic) stories.
