Heat pumps are now installed in 71% of new buildings in Germany - but there is still a lot of potential in existing buildings, as heat pumps can usually be used efficiently and economically in older buildings too.
However, many interested parties are unsure about the conditions under which heat pumps can be used and what measures may still be necessary on and in the building to enable the use of heat pumps.
The online event "Will a heat pump work in my house?" provides information on how heat pumps work, looks at different types of system and answers the question of what conditions must be met for heat pumps to be used efficiently in existing buildings.
After a presentation providing basic knowledge, participants can then work in small groups with advisors from the consumer advice center to find out what they should do in the short or long term to convert their own building to a heat pump.
Participation in the event is free of charge. Registration is required. Interested parties can register at www.klimaschutz-niedersachsen.de/veranstaltungen. The number of places is limited.
Background:
The event is a cooperation between the Climate Protection and Energy Agency of Lower Saxony and the Lower Saxony Consumer Advice Center as part of the "Energy transition at home" campaign. The campaign supports owners in making their residential buildings fit for the future in terms of energy.
