For many decades now, this Salzgitter resident has been collecting primarily small-scale model trucks and combining them with other historical objects and graphic elements to create artistic dioramas.
He is now showcasing nearly half of his collection in the sheep barn at the Städtisches Museum Schloss Salder, where the museum’s vehicle collection is also on display.
In this exhibition, suitable for the whole family, visitors can marvel at a total of 92 dioramas displayed in glass cases along 17 meters of table space. Hundreds of models are arranged within them, mostly assembled into scenes—some of which are quite complex. And, of course, there are a few references to Salzgitter.
The exhibition opens on Wednesday, August 19, at 11 a.m. It will remain open through October 18 during the museum’s regular hours—Tuesday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibition venue, Schafstall, is accessible. Parking is available in the castle courtyard or in the small parking lot on the street “Hinter dem Knick.” Admission is free.
