The team at the Salder Castle Municipal Museum has built a new display case in the entrance area of the castle. But not the usual one - no, the tusk is in a converted aquarium! This is because the rare find must not be allowed to dry out, otherwise it would crack and break.
In order for the tusk to be exposed to the air at some point, the piece needs to be impregnated with chemicals for a long time. This will take place in the aquarium. Museum visitors will be able to witness the restoration of the piece live!
The Salder Castle Municipal Museum is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Please note: different opening hours on public holidays)
The exhibition space in the castle is unfortunately not barrier-free (stairs).
