Salzgitter

Council meeting on February 25

On February 25, a public meeting of the Salzgitter City Council was held in the council chamber of the town hall in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt.

At the meeting, the members of the council approved, among other things, an amendment to the special user fee statutes as well as changes to the composition of the administrative committee, the specialist committees and the advisory and supervisory boards.

Two draft resolutions on the financing of additional costs in connection with the conversion of the existing Ringelheim daycare center with two crèche groups and on a guideline for dealing with the so-called "construction turbo" in the city of Salzgitter were referred to the parliamentary groups due to the need for consultation.

The council members were informed about measures taken by the administration to combat rats. Numerous measures led to a significant 40 percent reduction in rat infestation reports. The Council was also informed about the replacement arrangements from 01.03.2026 until the head of the Department of Education, Social Affairs and Integration is replaced.

This was followed by the motions (and in some cases amendments) submitted to the Council by the parliamentary groups. Resolutions were passed:

  • Planting of year-round Christmas trees for the permanent greening of central district squares (including an amendment)
  • Review request: Allocation guidelines for commercial properties in the city of Salzgitter
  • Creation of an economic development concept
  • Urgent motion: Development of the Fredenberg, Klunkau and Flachstöckheim secondary schools in Salzgitter
  • Continuation of the line to Ostfalia University in Salzgitter-Calbecht

At the end of the meeting, the agenda item "Questions and answers to questions" followed.

The council meeting was also broadcast live on the Internet via salzgitter.de. You can watch the meeting here:
