The exhibition features works by the following artists:
Degenhard Andrulat, Ahmed Borai, Gerd Druwe, Anna Eisermann, Nozomi Hasegawa, Hendrik Heisenberg, Christof John, Wolfgang Kessler, Daniel Kuge, Patrick Neugebauer, Jan Thomas, Lukas Zerbst. Also on view: works by the recently deceased artist Gerd Winner. He would have turned 90 in October. For this reason, plans were already in place to showcase the artist and his works at Salon Salder, as his “Roadmarks” align with the salon’s theme “Paths Out of Confusion.” The presentation of his works also honors his significance as an artist—far beyond the region.
On the exhibition theme "Confusion"
Confusion is more than just bewilderment—it is an artistic principle. The artists featured in this year’s Salon Salder challenge certainties, shift perspectives, and assemble fragments of reality into new visual worlds. An exhibition that brings to light the contradictions of our time and opens up new perspectives.
Exhibition tours, workshops, and guided tours
In addition to the works on display, there are also many activities for children and adults that offer new perspectives on art in general and the exhibition in particular.
For children:
On Sunday, September 20, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., and on Friday, September 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Salder Castle will host a workshop for children titled “Navigating Confusion Together.” Art educator Lena Hammer will explore the question “What exactly is confusion, and can we tackle it together?” with the young participants. After a child-friendly discovery tour of the exhibition, everyone will play a “chaos game” together. Through creative arts-and-crafts activities, little puzzles, and plenty of teamwork, participants will master tricky challenges and, step by step, bring order to the chaos. Imagination, teamwork, and good ideas are essential!
For teens and adults:
On Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, artist and art educator Elisabeth Stumpf will offer “Yoga and Art for Teens and Adults” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Teens ages 12 and up are welcome to participate.
When everything is happening at once and your mind won’t settle down: This two-day workshop invites teens and adults to consciously pause and find new clarity.
Accompanying the exhibition, the workshop combines yoga, meditation, and artistic inspiration. The goal is to reconnect with oneself, organize one’s thoughts, and give space to one’s own expression—without any pressure to perform or prior experience required.
Stumpf creates an open environment in which everyone can discover their own path to calm, creativity, and mindfulness.
Workshops for Adults:
from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the castle.
She will explore the question “How can confusion be captured in words and images?” with her participants. Through brief creative writing prompts, participants will first approach the topic individually and then explore the exhibition through group discussion.
Afterward, they will create collages as a visual search for clues, before turning to creative writing to explore the opposite concept of order. A workshop that blends expression, reflection, and creation.
Another workshop, “Dialogic Guided Tour,” for adults will take place on Sunday, October 18, at 11:30 a.m. at Salder Castle. Under the title “Confusion in Conversation,” art educator Lena Hammer
, art educator Lena Hammer engages with the works of the Salon Salder in an open dialogue with visitors, focusing on personal and societal facets of disorder, chance, and resistance to order.
