Changes are coming to the RV park at Salzgittersee. After many years without any major renovations, the park is now set to be modernized. To this end, the park will be temporarily closed starting September 21, 2026.
Much of the site’s technical infrastructure still dates back to 2009. There has been no major infrastructure upgrade since then. The planned measures are intended to bring the park up to modern standards.
Another important step for the site’s future is the change in management. A new operator, Camping Car Park, has been selected. Together with the management team, the campground will be further developed and made more attractive in the long term.
A key component of the modernization is the planned new supply and disposal station. This will provide RV guests with modern and reliable supply and disposal facilities in the future.
The RV park is located directly on the popular Salzgittersee recreational area. This location makes it particularly appealing to RV travelers who want to combine nature, recreational activities, and proximity to the city.
The Salzgittersee offers numerous opportunities for walks, bike rides, and other recreational activities. The downtown area of Salzgitter-Lebenstedt and other destinations in Salzgitter are also easily accessible from here.
The planned modernization is intended to adapt the site in the long term to the current needs of RV travelers.
During the temporary closure, RV travelers in the region have several alternatives available. Parking spaces are available in Braunschweig and Wolfenbüttel, as well as at the Thermalsolbad in Salzgitter-Bad (Parkallee 3, 38259 Salzgitter).
This ensures that the region remains attractive to RV travelers even during the construction phase. This provides various options for a stay, especially for visitors who wish to explore Salzgitter and the surrounding area.
It is not yet definitively clear how long the construction work will take or when the RV parking area at Salzgittersee will be able to reopen. After more than 15 years, the RV park is set to undergo a significant upgrade. A new operator, new infrastructure, and—in particular—the planned new service and waste disposal station are intended to prepare the site for the years ahead.
For RV travelers, this means that, for now, the site at Salzgittersee will be closed starting September 21, 2026—with the official opening scheduled to be celebrated in the spring of 2027.
