The focus is on the question "What should the energy transition in Salzgitter look like and what are citizens prepared to do about it?"
The city is looking for ways to implement the energy transition. The goal: to make the future CO2 neutral by 2050. The workshop "Climate protection Salzgitter's energy future - what should it look like" in June this year was the start of public participation for the creation of a climate protection concept for Salzgitter.
Now it continues with the two public workshops in Lebenstedt and Salzgitter-Bad. "We are inviting citizens and smaller companies in the north and south to actively participate in Salzgitter's energy future," says Michael Tacke, City Councillor for Building, Urban Planning, Environment and Transport.
In Salzgitter-Bad, the event will take place on Friday, September 27, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the offices of the Economic Development Agency. The citizens' workshop will then follow on Wednesday, October 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Alte Feuerwache. "We want suggestions and ideas from citizens on how to shape the energy transition in Salzgitter," explains Michael Buntfusz, Head of the Environment Department of the City of Salzgitter. The construction of more wind turbines, greater promotion of photovoltaic systems or further priorities for building renovations are some of the suggestions that can be discussed in the citizens' workshops. "We are collecting the citizens' ideas as a further basis for our work," announces city planning officer Michael Tacke.
At the end of the year, those responsible will then take stock and develop concrete projects and climate protection measures with the citizens in a workshop. Information: The city of Salzgitter invites all interested parties and smaller companies to the free citizens' workshops as part of the development of a climate protection concept for the city of Salzgitter.
In Salzgitter-Bad, the event will take place on Friday, September 27, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the offices of the Salzgitter Economic Development Agency (WIS) (Windmühlenbergstraße 20). In Lebenstedt, the citizens' workshop will take place on Wednesday, October 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Alte Feuerwache (Wehrstraße 27). Independently of this, citizens can make further suggestions on the subject of climate protection and energy savings.
