All Germans can apply for a travel passport.
Passports for young people under the age of 18 must be
be applied for by the legal representatives.
This is usually both parents together:
- if parents live together
- or if parents have joint custody rights
One parent wants to submit the application alone?
Then the other parent must agree in writing.
The signature will be checked.
For this, the Citizens' Center needs
- the ID card
- or a copy of the ID.
Persons aged 10 and over must sign the travel pass
at the Citizens' Center.
The signature will be sealed into the passport.
Persons aged 6 and over must provide their fingerprints.
The fingerprints are then sealed into the passport.
Children under the age of 6 must also come to the Citizens' Center.
If the children need a passport.
To apply for a travel passport you need:
- 1 new biometric photo
Biometric means: certain rules apply to the photo.
For example, the photo must not have a patterned background.
And the face must be clearly recognizable.
- your old passport
- the birth certificate or marriage certificate
- You must be able to make 2 fingerprints
- consent for persons under 18 years of age
Do you need a passport?
Then you must come to the Citizens' Center in person.
Please make an appointment beforehand.
You can only complete the application at the Citizens' Center.
The application is printed out directly at the Citizens' Center.
The passport photo machine in the town hall cannot be used at the moment.
A travel pass for people aged 24 and over costs 70.00 euros.
A travel pass for persons under the age of 24 costs 37.50 euros.

We cannot renew old passports.
You must apply for a new passport.
A new picture and fingerprints must be in the passport.
You can collect the passport yourself.
Or you can send another person with a power of attorney.
You must make an appointment beforehand.
You can collect your passport from the information stand at the Citizens' Center.
You must hand in your old passport there.
The old passport belongs to the Federal Republic of Germany.
That is what the law says.
Have you lost your passport?
You must report this immediately to the Citizens' Center.
Has your passport been stolen?
You must also report this to the Citizens' Center immediately.
And you must also report it to the police.
