The responsible body monitors compliance with public building law on behalf of the legislator. This results in the following tasks:

• Examining building applications and issuing building permits/partial building permits
• Checking preliminary building applications and issuing preliminary building permits
• Examination of special buildings
• Checking structural engineering certificates (stability, fire protection)
• Checking escape routes
• Checking and approving deviations, exceptions or exemptions
• Building supervision, building inspections
• Regulatory measures within the scope of building supervision
• Maintaining the register of building encumbrances and registering building encumbrances
• Assisting with fire inspections
• Processing of objections
