Basic security benefits in old age and in the event of reduced earning capacity are intended to ensure the basic needs of human existence, such as food, clothing, personal hygiene, household effects, household energy, personal everyday needs as well as adequate accommodation and heating. With the exception of accommodation and heating, they are generally paid as a lump sum in the form of standard rates. Individual allowances are only considered under special circumstances.

Additional needs are also recognized for

• Age and proof of the "G" sign,
• full reduction in earning capacity and proof of the "G" mark,
• pregnancy,
• single parenthood of children,
• costly nutrition in the event of illness,
• hot water with decentralized hot water supply,
• communal lunchtime meals in a WfBM or comparable facility and
• Beneficiaries with disabilities who receive assistance with school education or higher education in accordance with Section 112 SGB IX.

Appropriate health and long-term care insurance contributions are also eligible.

The basic old-age pension is an aid.

Basic income support in the event of reduced earning capacity is an aid.

People should have food and drink.

And clothes and things for the home.

And they should have money for other things.

For example

• for everyday things
• for medication
• for the apartment

The home must be suitable. In other words:

• The apartment must be good.
• The apartment must be warm.

There is money from basic security for this.

There is a fixed amount.

There are only a few exceptions.

Sometimes there is more need. That means

You need more money than other people.

• If you have a disability.
• If you have a child and stay at home.

The " G " mark

You must have the " G " mark.

• If you are over 25 years old.
• If you have a reduction in earning capacity.

• If you are a single parent.
• If you have to spend too much money on your diet:
• Because you are ill.
• If you want to have hot water.
• If you want to have lunch in an institution.
• People with disabilities get help with school education.
• Or they get help for an education at a university or technical college.
• If you have to pay money for health insurance.

The government says:

This is how much money is allowed.

Special case

• You are under 25 years old.
• And you are not married.
• And you want to move out of your parents' home.
• Then you must receive a special benefit from the Job Center.

You have to make an application.

The application is called an assurance.

You must submit the application to the Job Center.

You can get the assurance if:

• You want to move out of your parents' home because there are serious reasons.

For example:

• Because you don't want to live with your parents.
• You want to find a new job.

There are other important reasons for moving.

Then you need to ask the Job Center.

The Job Center says:

No, you are not allowed to move. Then the Job Center will not pay for the rent and heating.

And it won't pay for the things in your apartment either.

You have to pay for everything yourself.

If you ask the Job Center:

Then you can move.

And the Job Center will pay the moving costs.

And it may also give you money for the rental deposit.

You can also apply for one-off money.

• If you have a new apartment and need things for the apartment.
• If you have a child and need things for the child
• You get money for your health insurance.
• And for your long-term care insurance.
