In Salzgitter-Lebenstedt and Salzgitter-Bad, residents' parking zones have been set up in areas close to the city center that allow authorized persons to park in the streets concerned without having to observe any parking space management measures. A special parking permit exempts the holder from the obligation to purchase a parking ticket or display a parking disk. The maximum permitted parking time may also be exceeded. In addition, the parking permit entitles the holder to use parking spaces specially designated for residents in the streets concerned.

The parking permit can be applied for by any resident if the following requirements are met:

• Permanent residence in a designated resident parking zone
• No own parking space in reasonable proximity
• Proof of driving authorization (driver's license)
• Proof of ownership/provision of the vehicle by the owner

The parking permit is issued for one year, the fee is €30.70.

The parking permit can be issued for a maximum of three vehicles, which can then be used flexibly by indicating the corresponding license plate number on the permit. It is not possible to issue separate parking permits for several vehicles.

If the vehicle/license plate number changes during the year, a new parking permit must be applied for; in this case, the old parking permit must be handed in to the lower traffic authority.
