Description
From November 1, 2015, regulations will come into force based on the new Federal Registration Act (BMG) that you must observe when moving into a new home.
If you move into a new home, you will need confirmation from your landlord/landlady that you have moved in. You must present this to the responsible office each time you register.
The landlord/landlady is usually the owner of the apartment. However, it can also be the property management company appointed by the owner or, if you are living as a subtenant, the main tenant of the apartment.
The landlord's confirmation of residence must contain the following information:
- Name and address of the landlord/landlady
- Name and address of the owner (if he/she is not the landlord/landlady)
- Address of the apartment
- Names of all persons who move into the apartment and are therefore required to register
- Date of moving in
