The standardized locking system of the "Euro cylinder lock" or the "Euro key" for disabled-accessible facilities has been in place throughout Europe since 1986. It can now be found almost everywhere in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Anyone in possession of a Euroschlüssel can enter and use these facilities. These are, for example, disabled toilets in public buildings, train stations or highway service stations.
