The flexo bus for on-demand services in the Greater Braunschweig Regional Association area can now also be booked via app. In several areas across the region, flexo has been an additional ÖPNV service since December 2021. Previously, bookings could only be made by telephone.

"The booking app is the final component of the flexo pilot project," says Association Director Ralf Sygusch. "The entire scheduling and booking software is very complex. It has to take all scheduled bus services into account, for example to exclude parallel services with existing scheduled buses."

The app is available free of charge in the app stores for IOS and Android. Passengers have to register once and can then book their journeys conveniently from home or on the move. As with telephone bookings, journeys must be booked at least 60 minutes before departure.

Passengers enter their starting point in the app, either via a map or via a list of flexo stops, then the destination and desired departure or arrival time. The software calculates the route, departure time and arrival time at the destination. Users of flexo are informed that they have booked one or more journeys and are reminded again shortly before departure.

"The app makes the ordering process easier and is another way of attracting new target groups to flexo," explains Sygusch. Of course, flexo can still be booked for all areas via the free hotline: 0531-7938400.

• And this is how the app works:
  New passengers must register the first time they use it. Passengers who have already booked flexo by telephone are available in the system and are recognized as such.
• The journeys can then be booked.
• Users can choose whether the journeys should be confirmed by email and/or push notifications.
• A reminder for the journey can also be selected.
• People who are dependent on a wheelchair can enter this when registering. The system takes into account a time delay when boarding and the driver is then also informed.
• If you want to travel a certain route again and again, you can set it as a favorite.
• Long-term bookings are possible up to 30 days in advance.
• One bicycle and / or large luggage can be taken along at a time.

For organizational reasons, journeys in the Wesendorf / Wahrenholz / Hankensbüttel area can be booked via the app from 6 July.
