This was decided by the Salzgitter City Council at its meeting on January 28. According to the committee, a contract is to be awarded to an architectural firm to develop corresponding planning variants.

The ideas should be limited to the areas of sport, leisure and gastronomy, but should not include any residential development or retail.

The section of the lake between the pirate playground and the marina is envisaged, which is an outstanding location due to the existing infrastructure (parking spaces, connection to the city center).

It is planned to involve the local residents of the lake in order to take into account any possible adverse effects on individual clubs in advance.
