The Van der Horst company will be renovating the facades of its apartment buildings at Ahornstraße 19c, d and e; Lange Hecke 15 and 17 and Pappeldamm 24 a to c. The houses will not only be given a fresh coat of white and green paint. They will also be cleaned, cracks and plaster damage repaired and the balcony balustrades, external house and cellar doors and cellar windows will also be given a fresh coat of paint.
Local mayor Christian Striese met with city planning officer Michael Tacke, Dr. Holger Müller from Van der Horst, Maxi Marie Simgen from Neighbourhood Management and Martina Hänsch from the Urban Redevelopment and Socially Integrative City department to find out about the current status and the next steps in these initial renovation measures.
Dr. Holger Müller hopes to have given all the buildings a fresh coat of paint in the next three to four weeks. The city, the state and the federal government are subsidizing the measure with a total of 40 percent of the costs incurred. However, as this is repair work, there will be no increase in the land value of the houses affected by the renovation or their properties. Afterwards, the green areas in the courtyards of these buildings will be functionally improved and their design enhanced by the Van der Horst company.
