Salzgitter

Colorful brine in a double pack

The Bunte Sole (formerly the Integration Award) was awarded twice: the winners for 2020 and 2021 were honored at this year's event. The Steterburg Citizens' Association (Bunte Sole 2020) and KSV "Siegfried" Salzgitter (Bunte Sole 2021) received this special honor.

Around 250 guests attended the festive event in the Kulturscheune. The Department for Social Planning and Integration of the City of Salzgitter and the Citizens' Service for Migrants (BSfM) had organized a varied programme: "Patricija & Alex" provided entertaining entertainment with their show interludes, as did the performance by Janine Dean and cabaret artist Özgür Cebe.

Marcel Bürger, second mayor of the city of Salzgitter, welcomed the guests on behalf of the mayor, council and administration. He was delighted that the award ceremony could take place twice after the event was canceled last year due to the pandemic.

There were a total of eight proposals for the Bunte Sole 2020 and 2021, from which a jury chose the two associations Bürgerverein Steterburg and KSV "Siegfried" Salzgitter.

Founded in 2016, the Steterburg Citizens' Association is active in many different ways in Steterburg: the focus is on education and upbringing, art and culture, youth and elderly care. With their commitment, the members want to contribute to urban development to maintain and improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. Since 2019, volunteers have been working to ensure that pupils at Steterburg elementary school receive tutoring in German in the afternoons.

The KSV "Siegfried" Salzgitter wrestling club has been based in the east-west housing estate in Salzgitter-Bad for decades. Many talented wrestlers have come and continue to come from the immediate vicinity of the training and competition hall in the Eikel Arena. The club promotes the integration of people of different nationalities in a variety of sporting ways. KSV "Siegfried" Salzgitter was accepted into the federal program "Integration through Sport" at the beginning of 2021 and at the same time received recognition as a "Stützpunktverein Integration" by the State Sports Association of Lower Saxony. The club sees this award as recognition of the integration work it has carried out over decades and as motivation not to let up.

The laudatory speech for both clubs was given by Dincer Dinc from the Citizens' Service for Migrants, who also hosted the evening. He emphasized that the committed members of both associations work towards integration on a daily basis in a variety of ways. With their great commitment, they help many people in practical or sporting ways. In this way, both associations make an important contribution to helping people feel at home in Salzgitter.

The Citizens' Service for Migrants, which initiated the awarding of the Integration Prize together with the city of Salzgitter, has awarded the Colorful Brine to volunteers or particularly exemplary social initiatives for the ninth time. The prize recognizes outstanding achievements that promote integration.
