Braunschweig - Salzgitter / Wolfenbüttel high-speed cycle link

Where should the high-speed cycle link between the cities of Braunschweig and Salzgitter / Wolfenbüttel run? To clarify this question, interested parties were able to actively participate in an initial citizens' workshop on February 19.

Councillor Michael Tacke welcomes the participants to the secondary school.

Around 30 people from politics and the community attended the event at the Thiede secondary school for the Salzgitter area.

City councillor Michael Tacke welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of the high-speed cycle link for Salzgitter as an industrial location. He also referred to its regional significance, which is why the Greater Braunschweig Regional Association is the project's parent body, and its important contribution to the transport transition.

Dieter Frauenholz from the moderation office KoRiS - Kommunikative Stadt- und Regionalentwicklung - from Hanover explained the course of the workshop, in which citizens are asked to contribute their own ideas for the routing of the high-speed cycle link between Salzgitter-Thiede and Braunschweig.

Roland Böttcher from the Greater Braunschweig Regional Association presented the current status of the project and the further planning process and provided some information on the subject of cycle highways and cycle highways. He then explained the study corridor.

After questions from those present had been clarified, there were intensive discussions in small groups at three stations about forms of routing and possible obstacles in the Salzgitter-Thiede area. Frauenholz concluded by summarizing the results of the working phase.

Sebastian Vogt bid farewell to the workshop participants with an outlook on further public participation. The plan is to evaluate the proposals together with the commissioned planning office and the specialist authorities of the three municipalities and reduce them to three main variants. In a further workshop after the summer vacations, the preferred option is to be developed together with the citizens of Braunschweig, Wolfenbüttel and Salzgitter, which is then to be decided on by the committees of the three cities.

Following the citizens' workshop in Salzgitter-Thiede, the administration expressed its satisfaction with the information and route proposals.
