Salzgitter

Real Steel" art exhibition

Works on the theme of work and the world of work around steel. For decades, the municipal art collection of the city of Salzgitter has been collecting works of art from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day on the subject of "work".

This year, the "Real Steel" exhibition at the Salder Castle Municipal Museum features works about the working and professional world of steel. The exhibition opens on Sunday, March 9, at 11 am. The exhibits will be on display until Sunday, May 11.

Not only the working man is the focus of the works in the collection, but also the tools and machines used as well as the view of industrialization and its effects on the landscape and society. Last but not least, leisure time and the social environment also have their place in the collection.

For the city of Salzgitter with its local coal and steel industry, building up an art collection was not an obvious task, so the focus on the subject of work in art and thus the opportunity to collect pictorial, visual documentation and critical examination of past working techniques, social developments and problems from the age of industrialization to the present day seems all the more far-sighted.

This year's exhibition shows the working and professional world of steel - the best-known product for the city of Salzgitter. The extraction of the mineral resources for its production - but also the product itself - has become an integral part of the everyday lives of the people who live here.

The artworks of the following artists are on display:
Bernd Altenstein, Heiner Altmeppen, Gerd Arntz, Andreas Baier, Volker Blumkowski, Uwe Brodmann, Ralph Fleck, Edward B. Gordon, Helle Jetzig, Hermann Kätelhön, Wolfgang Kessler, Siegfried Langner, Jonas Nadasdy, Malte Sartorius, Bernd Schwering, Jürgen Waller, Gerd Winner
