Participants can take part in self-formed teams of at least two active cyclists or in one of the seven local teams. Here, participants have the opportunity to cycle as many kilometers as possible for their locality (north, northeast, northwest, east, south, southeast and west) as a sub-team for their own district. In the end, the total kilometers count both for your own district and for the village. This is particularly interesting for those who would like to participate on their own and are looking for a group to collect their kilometers for.
In addition to the most bicycle-active local team, prizes are also awarded to the most bicycle-active job team (company, administration, public authority, vocational school, Ostfalia University, other professional groups) and the most bicycle-active leisure team (families, clubs, associations, political parties and other private groups).
The inclusion and participation of all people is very important to the organizers, which is why the journeys and kilometers covered by wheelchair or handbike can also be entered on the website or the CITY CYCLING APP. Walking bikes are also permitted.
The "SCHOOL CYCLING" category is a separate competition within the "CITY CYCLING". It is about the titles of the "most bicycle-active school" and the "most bicycle-active school class" with the most kilometers per active team member.
Great prizes provided by Radstudio Salzgitter await the pupils competing in the separate "SCHULRADELN" category. The schools with the most kilometers collected will receive a voucher from the city of Salzgitter to purchase new sports equipment.
